Our mission
Online shopping is fast, but it's disconnected from the stores in your own neighbourhood. In-store shopping is immediate, but it takes a trip. Flashn exists to close that gap: the same mall retailers you already shop at, brought to your door the same day, picked out by a real local shopper instead of a warehouse robot.
My story
I'm Shayhan Pitigala, and I founded Flashn.
It started with a dress shirt — but honestly, it had been building for a while.
I was visiting a friend downtown before a dinner reservation. I'd forgotten to pack something to wear and had maybe an hour before we needed to leave. The nearest mall was close, but traffic wasn't, and I'd already showered. I remember thinking: why can't someone just go get it for me? I'd pay. Easily. And it wasn't the first time I'd felt that way — there had been other moments, other days where getting to a store just wasn't in the cards, and I'd either gone without or made do.
Then there were my friends on Friday nights. The pre-going-out spiral — standing in front of the closet, hating everything they own, scrolling through Zara and H&M online knowing nothing will arrive for days. This wasn't a one-time thing. It happened almost every weekend. The mall was twenty minutes away. The stores were open. The clothes they wanted existed. They just couldn't get to them.
And then there's my grandmother. She loves shopping for clothes online — she does it constantly. But when something doesn't fit or she changes her mind, the return sits in her hallway. For weeks, sometimes longer. She can't drive to the store, and she can't carry boxes to the post office. Every time I visited her, there'd be another bag in the corner waiting to go back. For something that should take five minutes, it had become a recurring problem with no easy solution.
Three recurring frustrations. One gap that none of them could solve on their own: no service existed that could go to a physical store, buy what you need, and bring it to your door same day — and no one was making clothing returns easy for the people who need it most.
Those moments kept coming back to me. They're what inspired me to build Flashn.
